SDG-7 AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY

GOAL 7: AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY

Between 1990 and 2010, the number of people with access to electricity increased by 1.7 billion. As the world's population grows, demand for affordable energy will rise. The fossil fuel-dependent global economy and increasing greenhouse gas emissions are causing significant changes in our climate system, affecting all continents. Promoting clean energy has led to over 20% of global energy being produced from renewable sources by 2011. However, one in five people still lacks electricity, and meeting growing demand will require a substantial increase in renewable energy production. To ensure access to affordable energy by 2030, investments in clean energy sources like solar, wind, and thermal are necessary. Adopting cost-effective standards for a broader range of technologies could reduce global electricity consumption in buildings and industries by 14%. Expanding infrastructure and upgrading technology for clean energy in developing countries is critical for fostering growth while benefiting the environment.SDG-7 AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY
