UN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

At the UN Sustainable Development Summit held in New York on September 25, 2015, world leaders endorsed the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), consisting of 17 goals and 169 targets aimed at eradicating poverty, protecting the environment, addressing climate change, promoting equitable prosperity, and fostering peace by 2030. These goals represent a global call to action for a more livable world for current and future generations. Higher education institutions play a critical role as stakeholders in achieving these goals, striving to foster sustainable development through education, research, and community leadership, and by reducing their own environmental, social, and economic impact.
