SDG-12 RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION

GOAL 12: RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION

To achieve economic growth and sustainable development, we need to urgently reduce our ecological footprint by changing how we produce and consume goods and resources. Agriculture is the largest water consumer globally, accounting for about 70% of all freshwater used by people. Efficient management of our shared natural resources and the way we dispose of toxic waste and pollutants are also crucial targets for achieving this goal. Encouraging industries, businesses, and consumers to recycle and reduce waste is equally important for promoting more sustainable consumption patterns in developing countries by 2030. A significant portion of the world’s population still consumes at levels insufficient to meet their basic needs. Reducing global per capita food waste by half at both the seller and consumer levels is vital for creating more efficient production and supply chains. This can enhance food security and facilitate the transition to an economy that uses resources more efficiently.
