SDG-8 DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH

GOAL 8: DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH

Despite the lasting effects of the economic crisis and global recession in 2008, the number of workers living in extreme poverty has significantly decreased over the past 25 years. In developing countries, the middle class now constitutes over 34% of total employment, nearly tripling between 1991 and 2015. However, as the global economy continues to recover, growth is slower, inequalities are rising, and job opportunities are not keeping pace with the growing workforce. According to the International Labour Organization, over 204 million people were unemployed in 2015. The Sustainable Development Goals promote sustainable economic growth, higher productivity, and technological innovation, emphasizing the importance of entrepreneurship and job creation. The aim is to achieve full and productive employment and decent work for all women and men by 2030.SDG-8 DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH
